Recently, Year 3 took part in the Wigan Dance Festival at Robin Park. As you can see from the images above, a wide range of fiery moves were on display! Well done to all of the children involved, and a special thank you to Miss Jones for choreographing an amazing routine.

In Maths we are going to be focusing on a number a week, which allows us to really get to know each number! During our first weeks in school, we have been doing different sorting activities to make our brains start to think in a mathematical way and we are starting to notice patterns.

In Reception we have been settling into our class so well. We have been learning all about the rules and routines of our new school, and getting to know different members of staff. Look how much of a good time we have had so far!

We have been exploring Florence Nightingale and her influence on nursing. We looked at the nurses unirforms that they wore in the 1800’s compared to the uniforms nurses wear today. We then worked in groups to design and create a nurses uniform that could be worn by a future nurse.

This week we have been focusing on place value. We partitioned numbers using the base ten models which helped us to show how many tens and ones are in two digit numbers.

We used dictionaries to look up words we didn’t know the meaning of from the story ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’.

We had to look carefully at the letter the word began with, find this in the order of the alphabet then find it in the dictionary.

The more we practised the quicker we were at finding the definitions.
