Y1 Autumn 1 Update
Year 1 have settled into school life beautifully! We have been exploring the different areas in and out of the classroom to ensure there are lots of opportunities to apply our skills independently. Our topic has been looking at how we have changed from when we were younger. We really enjoyed playing guess who with our baby photographs.
Year 1 are good sorters! We have been sorting different objects according to their size and colour. We have also been using concrete apparatus to explore different numbers. We have used the numicon to see what happens when numbers get smaller and larger. Counting forwards and backwards is easy for Year 1 but we are now concentrating on doing this from any number!
Science has been very practical! We have been exploring our different senses. The curry powder in the Science area was not popular! We also explored what it was like not to have some senses. Building a tower with wooden blocks was very difficult when we had to wear a blindfold.
