Admissions to our School

Late applications/Preference changes

If you have not yet applied for a primary school place, or you wish to change your mind about the preferences or the order of preferences after the closing date, you must complete a late application form.

Wigan LA Late application form - Primary

Wigan LA will only offer ONE place to each child, please ensure you select Our Lady's as your first choice in order to secure the best chance of being offered a place at our school. Last year a pupil who was ranked 53rd out of 58 was offered a place at our school because they placed Our Lady's as their first choice. If you would like to discuss your application please do not hesitate to contact us on 01942 832299.

For each new September intake there are 30 places at school for Reception Year children, if 30 children or less apply for a place ALL children who apply will be offered a place, however if more than 30 children apply, places will be allocated with reference to the school's Admissions policy. For more information please CLICK HERE

If you have been unable to join us at our Open Day for parents and children wishing to apply for a place in our school starting in September 2019, please contact the school to arrange a personal tour of the school.

Please see our promotional video above for a brief overview of the school. This was kindly produced by Matthew & Ben of Parallax Media who are currently students at Runshaw College.

On behalf of the whole community of Our Lady’s, may I welcome you to our school website.

We hope that you will find all of the information you are looking for and that the website will give you an insight into the life at our wonderful school.

Being the Headteacher of Our Lady’s gives me great pleasure. Having been the Deputy Headteacher here for four years, I am fully committed to the community of Our Lady’s and strive to ensure that the school serves our local children and their families well.

I believe our school is very special. Our Lady’s enjoys a reputation as a happy and caring Catholic primary school. We are proud of our academic achievements, our friendly purposeful atmosphere and the extra curricular provision made available to our pupils.

We expect the highest standards from our pupils in all aspects of school life, in their attitudes to learning and in their behaviour. Our Lady’s staff are committed, talented and professional, providing a caring, safe and supportive learning environment for our pupils.

We try to encourage at all times an active partnership with parents, pupils, governors and parish to help ensure the best possible education for each one of our pupils.

We hope you like our website; however, if there is anything else you would find useful please let us know through the ‘Contact Us’ page. You are very welcome to visit and experience our outstanding school for yourself – learning and loving together; we grow with Jesus.

As headteacher, I am always able to make time to talk to parents, so please do not hesitate to ask.

I look forward to meeting you and your child.

Mr Chris Horridge

Ash Wednesday
Many thanks to Father Kevin who led an Ash Wednesday service this week in school with us and fellow parishioners. Father Kevin commented on the impeccable behaviour of our children!

WE Day UK Festival
As a result of the fantastic community work that Our Lady’s carries out, we have been successful in our application to receive tickets for the ‘WE Day’ UK Festival at the SSE Arena, Wembley.

On Wednesday 4th March, there will be 13 children accompanied by members of staff, who will be travelling to London. It is an honour that we have been chosen to represent not only the school and parish, but Salford Diocese! Hundreds of other schools applied but were unsuccessful! What an exciting opportunity for the children to celebrate the hard work that they do for the school, parish and community.

WE Day brings together a world-renowned line up: Idris Elba, Kate Beckinsale, Lewis Hamilton. Leona Lewis, Gwendoline Christie, Alfie Allen, Adwoa Aboah and Sofia Carson.—with tens of thousands of children to kick-start a year of action. It will be an innovative day to also gather new ideas to inspire others!

The God Who Speaks
Scripture is at the centre of everything the Church does. The word of God shapes our prayer and worship. The Bible shows us how to understand the world, how we are called to live and relate to each other. (Catholic Bishops of England and Wales) The Catholic Bishops of England and Wales have dedicated the year 2020 as a year of focus on the Bible and 'The God Who Speaks'. During the year, Catholics across the country are encouraged to look again at the Word of God in holy scripture and to consider anew how their lives can be guided and enriched by the Word. Pupils and staff in school will be invited to listen to and to read the Word of God and to be more aware of how they can use the bible as a source of guidance, or encouragement, of comfort and of hope.

Pope Francis’ Monthly Intentions
I wanted to bring to your attention the monthly prayer intentions of Pope Francis. Each month, the Holy Father asks for our prayers for a specific intention. You are invited to answer the Holy Father's request and to join with many people worldwide in praying for this intention each month.
