Admissions to our School

Wigan LA will only offer ONE school place to each child, please ensure you select Our Lady's as your first choice in order to secure the best chance of being offered a place at our school. Last year a pupil who was ranked 64th out of 64 was offered a place at our school because they placed Our Lady's as their first choice. If you would like to discuss your application please do not hesitate to contact us on 01942 832299.

For each new September intake there are 30 places at school for Reception Year children, if 30 children or less apply for a place ALL children who apply will be offered a place, however if more than 30 children apply, places will be allocated with reference to the school's Admissions policy. During the current Covid-19 situation we are still planning to hold our annual OPEN DAY, please CLICK HERE for more information on how our socially distanced OPEN DAY will work. We look forward to welcoming you to our school.

If you are unable to join us at our Open Day for parents and children wishing to apply for a place in our school starting in September 2021, please contact the school to arrange a personal tour of the school.

Please see our promotional video above for a brief overview of the school. This was kindly produced by Matthew & Ben of Parallax Media who were students at Runshaw College.

On behalf of the whole community of Our Lady’s, may I welcome you to our school website.

We hope that you will find all of the information you are looking for and that the website will give you an insight into the life at our wonderful school.

Being the Headteacher of Our Lady’s gives me great pleasure. I am fully committed to the community of Our Lady’s and strive to ensure that the school serves our local children and their families well.

I believe our school is very special. Our Lady’s enjoys a reputation as a happy and caring Catholic primary school. We are proud of our academic achievements, our friendly purposeful atmosphere and the extra curricular provision made available to our pupils.

We expect the highest standards from our pupils in all aspects of school life, in their attitudes to learning and in their behaviour. Our Lady’s staff are committed, talented and professional, providing a caring, safe and supportive learning environment for our pupils.

We try to encourage at all times an active partnership with parents, pupils, governors and parish to help ensure the best possible education for each one of our pupils.

We hope you like our website; however, if there is anything else you would find useful please let us know through the ‘Contact Us’ page. You are very welcome to visit and experience our outstanding school for yourself – learning and loving together; we grow with Jesus.

As headteacher, I am always able to make time to talk to parents, so please do not hesitate to ask.

I look forward to meeting you and your child.

Mr Chris Horridge

Newsletter Issue 6 - 2020/21

Reminders on Covid-19 guidance for schools

The government guidance for those who test negative is that you can return to work/school providing you feel well and have been fever free for 48 hours after the test and fellow household members can end their self-isolation.
Please do refer to the government ‘Stay at home’ guidance .
Additionally, Wigan Local authority have asked us to remind all parents to leave the school grounds as quickly as you can once you have dropped off or collected your child. This is really important to maintain social distancing and keeping everyone safe.

Christmas & BOSCEP Carol Service

Despite the pandemic, we are determined that the spirit of Christmas will not be lost. Although we are unable to have our usual nativity and carol services, each class will be recording a short video to celebrate Christmas which we will then share with our families. Our Catholic network of schools will also be joining together virtually, so that they can share a Christmas carol service together.

Open Evening Tours

We have now almost completed all of our pre-arranged tours of Our Lady’s. If you know of any other families who have children due to start in September please let them know that they can contact the school office and we will arrange a private tour after school when Covid restrictions allow.

All Saints Liturgical Service

Thank you to Year 6 for doing a fantastic job in leading our All Saints liturgical service today. You did a brilliant job and were a credit to your class. Thank you to Miss Cunningham, Mrs Bithell and Mrs Goulding for supporting the children in these tricky circumstances. It was also great to see members of our school community supporting our children so thank you for your continued support.
On Thursday 3rd December, our Y4 children will lead an Advent service in school at 11:00a.m., as always everyone is welcome to attend via TEAMS. The link will be sent out to families closer to the date.

Newsletter Issue 4 - 2020/21

Our Year 4 children attended a Reconciliation service last Wednesday in preparation for making their Holy Communion. The children were beautifully behaved and this was commented on by Father Kevin. We thank Father for supporting the children on their sacramental journey.
Last week, the online booking system for Holy Communion for those children in Year 4 went live, if this affects your child and you haven’t already done so can I kindly ask that you please book in a time at one of the available dates. The online booking form is available at

Parent's Interim Reports

You should have now received your child’s interim report via email. Unfortunately, we were unable to host our parents evenings in the usual format. Thank you once again for your ongoing support.
