Admissions to our School

Wigan LA will only offer ONE school place to each child, please ensure you select Our Lady's as your first choice in order to secure the best chance of being offered a place at our school. Last year a pupil who was ranked 64th out of 64 was offered a place at our school because they placed Our Lady's as their first choice. If you would like to discuss your application please do not hesitate to contact us on 01942 832299.

For each new September intake there are 30 places at school for Reception Year children, if 30 children or less apply for a place ALL children who apply will be offered a place, however if more than 30 children apply, places will be allocated with reference to the school's Admissions policy. During the current Covid-19 situation we are still planning to hold our annual OPEN DAY, please CLICK HERE for more information on how our socially distanced OPEN DAY will work. We look forward to welcoming you to our school.

If you are unable to join us at our Open Day for parents and children wishing to apply for a place in our school starting in September 2021, please contact the school to arrange a personal tour of the school.

Please see our promotional video above for a brief overview of the school. This was kindly produced by Matthew & Ben of Parallax Media who were students at Runshaw College.

On behalf of the whole community of Our Lady’s, may I welcome you to our school website.

We hope that you will find all of the information you are looking for and that the website will give you an insight into the life at our wonderful school.

Being the Headteacher of Our Lady’s gives me great pleasure. I am fully committed to the community of Our Lady’s and strive to ensure that the school serves our local children and their families well.

I believe our school is very special. Our Lady’s enjoys a reputation as a happy and caring Catholic primary school. We are proud of our academic achievements, our friendly purposeful atmosphere and the extra curricular provision made available to our pupils.

We expect the highest standards from our pupils in all aspects of school life, in their attitudes to learning and in their behaviour. Our Lady’s staff are committed, talented and professional, providing a caring, safe and supportive learning environment for our pupils.

We try to encourage at all times an active partnership with parents, pupils, governors and parish to help ensure the best possible education for each one of our pupils.

We hope you like our website; however, if there is anything else you would find useful please let us know through the ‘Contact Us’ page. You are very welcome to visit and experience our outstanding school for yourself – learning and loving together; we grow with Jesus.

As headteacher, I am always able to make time to talk to parents, so please do not hesitate to ask.

I look forward to meeting you and your child.

Mr Chris Horridge

First Holy Communion

A big well done to the children that have made their First Holy communion. We know that we can’t celebrate as we have done in previous years but we know that this day remains as special as always. Good luck to the children that will be making their First Holy Communion in the very near future

Free School Meals

Could your child be entitled to free school meals? We are aware that during this current pandemic, some families financial circumstances have changed. We are able to check if your child is entitled to receive a free school meal. Please contact the school office for further information.

Last Supper Service

Thank you to Year 5 for the fantastic job they did leading our school and community at this special time of year. You were a credit to Our Lady’s. A special thank you to Miss Postlethwaite and Miss Anna for supporting the children. It was fantastic to see many of our parents supporting the children virtually.

Reconciliation Reminder

This weekend, the Year 4 children will be continuing with their sacramental journey in their booked slots for the next three weekends. All of the children and families remain in our prayers.
Year 3 have received details of how they will be continuing their sacramental programme. The dates for booking slots in June for their Holy Communion will be released on Tuesday 20th April. Again, all of the children and families remain in our prayers.

Easter Last Supper Service

Easter Last Supper Service
Our next service in school will be for the Last Supper, and will be at the usual time of 11:00am, on Wednesday 31st March. Year 5 will lead our service via TEAMS in school. Unfortunately, we are still not allowed to have Mass in school with Fr Kevin and our families, but this approach enables us to come together to celebrate and reflect upon the time of year. I’m sure that they will do a fantastic job as they always do! The Last Supper Service can be accessed via the following link on Wednesday 31st March at 11:00am. As always, all families and parishioners are most welcome to join this virtual service.

Lent Fundraising

The Lent fundraising is going amazingly well. It is great to hear the stories of how the children are ‘ Walk-ing for Water’ for Cafod. We are already well on track to achieve another great total. Thank you very much for your continued support. We’ll let you know the final amount when the fundraising has finished.
