Year 4 have been exploring the water cycle in science this week!💧They got creative by using paper plates to model the cycle and demonstrate the different processes.

In maths this week, the children have been focusing on rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1,000. They have explored different methods to help them and have been practicing rounding a range of numbers.

Year 4 have been little scientists this week! They've been investigating whether we can make rain, helping them to explore and understand the processes of evaporation and condensation.

Year 4 have had a fabulous week in English creating their own stanzas for their poems. They have worked so hard to write their first draft, carefully editing and improving their ideas as we went along. They have now completed their final pieces and we are so proud of their work. Well done Year 4!

Exploring The Positive Pod Communicating, taking turns, having fun and understanding how to play fairly. Exciting Nurture session outside in The Tree Trail, playing Hide & Seek and catching up with our friends.

This week the children loved welcoming Belinda into class to explore the meaning behind aboriginal art symbols. Outside they used chalk, sand and oil pastels to recreate some of these symbols before using them to create their own stories.

The children loved taking part in a science experiment exploring the topic of States of Matter. They investigated melting by testing different conditions to see which would make ice melt the fastest. The children made predictions, observed the changes carefully, and discussed their results, developing their scientific thinking and understanding of how materials can change state. ,

The children enjoyed using base 10, part whole models and the place value chart to support their learning.

Our dragon eye sculptures look amazing! I am so proud of the detail the children added to create these. Well done. What a fantastic year we have had! I wish you all a wonderful summer.

Year 4 completed their divestion investigation. They got a little mucky but saw and understood what happens inside the body.

We had our creative curriculum day where half of year 4 go to Aspull Church and half come to us. We loved creating dragon eyes and completing our one stoke dragons!

We created some fantastic dragon eye sketches ready for our sculpting. We also explored the best techniques and apparatus to use for our one stroke dragons.

We have loved looking at what different drinks can do to our enamel. We are testing this out on eggs this week and will checking them on Monday.

From the start of the new academic year in September 2026, all children (except Reception) will be expected to come to school dressed in their full PE kit on their allocated PE days, instead of their usual school uniform. School PE kit includes: · Navy PE shorts · Plain white t-shirt/white with navy capped sleeve PE top (preferred) · New School PE tracksuit – navy/white tracksuit bottoms and navy/white long sleeve zip jacket embroidered with the school badge

All week, we have been writing and editing our Dragonology's. We are now ready to create our double page spread that will go into our own class dragonolgy. We cannot wait for you to read it!

Year 4 looked at the water cycle in their Science lesson. We used the story 'The Rhythm of the Rain' to understand where water travels and the scientific process of the movement of water. We created our own mini water cycles to help understand and explain the process. Please take a look at them on our classroom window.
