Wow – what an action-packed Spring and Summer it’s been in Year 2!

Get ready for another whirlwind tour through two terms full of learning, laughter, and plenty of memorable moments!

In Spring, we kicked things off by welcoming a very special visitor – our resident artist, Belinda, who helped us explore the colourful and quirky world of James Rizzi. Inspired by his work, we created our own vibrant masterpieces ready to showcase in our very own art gallery. Move over, Tate Modern!

Next up, we got comfy with a good book (or several!) for Storytelling Week – every day at 11:45, a surprise guest popped in to read us a story. We celebrated World Book Day in style too, dressing up as our favourite words – we’ve never seen so many adjectives, nouns, and verbs in one room!

We flexed our maths muscles during the NSPCC Number Day, turning digits into fun and games while raising awareness for a great cause. And we didn’t stop there – during Love Your Community Day, KS1 came together to explore the world right outside our classroom. From mini-beast hunts with Miss Cunningham and Mrs Flores to creative, community-themed activities with different teachers, it was a day full of discovery and smiles.

In DT, our budding chefs rolled up their sleeves to taste, design, and make their very own healthy pizzas – all while learning about where our food comes from (spoiler: it’s not just the supermarket!).

To top it all off, we stepped back in time on our trip to Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry, where we found out all about life in Victorian times, including the jobs children used to have – and we decided school today is definitely the better option!

As the Summer term rolled in, we turned our attention to mental health during Mental Health Awareness Week, talking about how we can look after our minds just like we do our bodies. From mindfulness to movement, we explored the small things that make a big difference.

In Art, we travelled way back to the Stone Age, using clay to design and build our own Stone Age homes – it turns out Year 2 are pretty skilled prehistoric architects!

From storytelling to stone age shelters, and pizzas to place value, it’s been a jam-packed journey – and we’re so proud of everything Year 2 has achieved.

We can’t wait to see what adventures await in the next chapter!
