Year 1 have settled in to their new classroom very well. They have been building Mr Potato Head to remind us of our rules. Year 1 have been busy exploring the different areas, starting to learn about plants and the journey of water in our outdoor area. They also had fun in Bikeability at the start of the week! In Computing have loved programming our own sprites on Scratch this week! Children were able to change characters, input voice notes and move their sprites in different directions.

From the start of the new academic year in September 2026, all children (except Reception) will be expected to come to school dressed in their full PE kit on their allocated PE days, instead of their usual school uniform. School PE kit includes: · Navy PE shorts · Plain white t-shirt/white with navy capped sleeve PE top (preferred) · New School PE tracksuit – navy/white tracksuit bottoms and navy/white long sleeve zip jacket embroidered with the school badge

This week, Y1 have loved making healthy beach snacks in Design Technology. We have learned about the importance of being clean and safe when preparing food. We are excited to try our delicious smoothie ice lollies tomorrow!

We have enjoyed identifying a variety of different plants in our local area during our Science lesson this week. We collected data using a tally chart to see which flower was the most popular. The children then compared their results. We found daisies, buttercups, dandelions, snow drops, perennials and crocuses'.

This week, we have enjoyed slicing, chopping and tasting fruits as part of our smoothie making project in Design Technology. The children enjoyed using the knives and chopping boards safely and taste testing lots of fruits!
