Year 1 have loved working with Belinda our school artist. We explored the work of Paul Klee and tried to draw shapes inspired by him with chalk. Year 1 have settled in to their new classroom very well. They have been building Mr Potato Head to remind us of our rules. In Computing have loved programming our own sprites on Scratch this week! Children were able to change characters, input voice notes and move their sprites in different directions.

From the start of the new academic year in September 2026, all children (except Reception) will be expected to come to school dressed in their full PE kit on their allocated PE days, instead of their usual school uniform. This week, Y1 have loved making healthy beach snacks in Design Technology. We have learned about the importance of being clean and safe when preparing food. We are excited to try our delicious smoothie ice lollies tomorrow!

We have enjoyed identifying a variety of different plants in our local area during our Science lesson this week. We collected data using a tally chart to see which flower was the most popular. The children then compared their results. We found daisies, buttercups, dandelions, snow drops, perennials and crocuses'.

This week, we have enjoyed slicing, chopping and tasting fruits as part of our smoothie making project in Design Technology. The children enjoyed using the knives and chopping boards safely and taste testing lots of fruits!
