What a Wonderful First Week Back!

What a wonderful first week back we have had in Year 2! The children have really impressed us with how grown-up, responsible and independent they have been. It has been lovely to see them settling back into school routines so confidently and showing such enthusiasm for their learning.

In Maths, we have started learning our 10 times tables and have been practising counting in tens. We have also been working hard on recognising the numerals and number words from 1–20, developing our confidence with reading and representing numbers.

On Tuesday afternoon, we were left a very exciting surprise delivery… a treasure chest from the past! 🗝️📜 The children were absolutely fascinated and couldn't wait to discover what was inside. When we opened the chest, we found a very special copy of Samuel Pepys' diary. This exciting discovery has introduced us to our new History topic, The Great Fire of London. We have started learning about Samuel Pepys, his diary and the events of 1666. The children have already shown lots of curiosity and asked some fantastic questions as we began to explore what life was like in London over 350 years ago.

We are so proud of the fantastic start the children have made and can't wait to see what the rest of our learning journey brings! 🔥📚
