We have had a lovely start back to school this week after some well needed rest. The children have started to explore our new topic 'Africa'. We have read our class text 'Handa's surprise' and we ordered some key events in the story. The children then thought about different animals that live in Africa. We discussed whether we would see these animals in our country. The children then spent the afternoon making some wonderful artwork using watercolours. In RE, we have been looking at Saint Peter. We thought about why Saint Peter was an important man and we read scripture (Matthew 16:15–19) to think about why he was a good friend to Jesus.

In maths, the children have been exploring repeating patterns. They did such a good job of spotting the pattern rule in some different pattern sequences. Finally, we released our 3 butterflies. We gave them names: Baby Junior, Poppy and Tony. We are going to keep a look out for them around our school.
