YR- Week Commencing 6/7/26
This week, Reception have been continuing their learning about creatures under the sea. The children made their own jellyfish and told us facts about their creature. We also enjoyed lots of water play outside this week. We made our own lemonade stand where we used different sized containers to pour and fill. We did some fantastic work in phonics this week too. The children blew us away with their word building using diagraphs 'wh' and 'ch'.

YR- Week Commencing 29/6/26
We have had another wonderful week in Reception. We started the week looking at numbers to 20 in maths. We did such a fabulous job of counting and even recognised some of the numerals. In Understanding The World, we looked at sea creatures and learned some interesting facts about different creatures. We have started our Multi-Faith topic in RE this week- Islam. We looked at a Madrasa and what they are used for. We then designed our own prayer mats.

YR- Week Commencing 22/6/26
We have had so much fun this week for our Under The Sea Enrichment Day. We started the day by making our own sandwiches as part of our DT topic. The children used vocabulary such as folding, spreading and cutting to explain the process. We then took the sandwiches outside to enjoy a picnic in the lovely weather. YR- Week Commencing 15/6/26
We have started our new topic this week- Under The Sea. We started with our science topic where we investigated sinking and floating. We went outside in the outdoor area to predict whether different objects would float or sink. The children used some fantastic vocabulary to explain their reasoning such as 'dense', 'metal', 'air', 'heavy' and 'light'.

YR- Week Commencing 8/6/26
This week, Reception have continued their learning on Africa. We were super lucky to have a look at Miss Wallace's photographs from her recent trip to Kenya. We looked at some of the houses and schools in Kenya and thought about how they were similar and different to our own here in Aspull. We have had a lovely start back to school this week after some well needed rest. The children have started to explore our new topic 'Africa'. We have read our class text 'Handa's surprise' and we ordered some key events in the story. The children then thought about different animals that live in Africa. PE School Uniform 2026-27
From the start of the new academic year in September 2026, all children (except Reception) will be expected to come to school dressed in their full PE kit on their allocated PE days, instead of their usual school uniform. YR- Week Commencing 18.5.26
Reception have been working really hard on developing their throwing and catching skills in PE with Wigan Warriors this week. We worked on skills to throw a ball successfully using an under arm throw and we thought about how we use our bodies to be ready to catch it. We have also had an exciting update on our caterpillars. YR- Week Commencing 4.5.26
This week, Reception have started their new topic- Minibeasts. On Wednesday, we enjoyed a trip to the forest where we took part in a minibeast hunt. We found many creatures living in our forest such as: woodlice, spiders, snails and ladybirds. We also had 3 new arrivals to our class this week- Caterpillars! We cannot wait to watch them grow into butterflies.
